Sturgis Iron Mountain Hwy 16A

Hey, you stole my pics. JK. Iron Mt rd is worth the trip to the hills. Wouldn't waste my money again to go to Mt Rushmore when you can see everything from the road.
 
We left Rushmore and went the other way on the road so we didn't get the great "framing" shots with the tunnels. I did get the same shots from across the valley. I was there the day before you. Had a great time (first time at Sturgis) and I thought it was well worth the money to be up close at Rushmore. Hope to go again in a few years; probably won't ride all the way out next time. Just a few (took over 400) pics. Managed to hit Rushmore, Iron Mountain, Needles, Custer and Crazy Horse in the same day. Almost had a buffalo knock over my bike when he decided to walk up the road as we were taking pictures of him.

I was out there this year also and took the same routes with the same outstanding sights. It was my first time there and had no idea that the builders of that route bored those tunnels just right to make Rushmore framed in it. It was an inspiring ride and I think I took some photos from about the same positions in a few cases. I was constantly being amazed everywhere I rode.

Anybody make it up to the "Boot Hill" cemetary in Deadwood to see Wild Bill Hickock and Calamity Jane's graves? Another surprise for me as I didn't know those were there either.

One of the guys on the trip called it a "bucket list trip" and I couldn't agree more. The ride out from Massachusetts, with the right group of guys, made the trip just as much as the sights in and around Sturgis. I spent more time riding one handed trying to take as many pictures as I could just to take it back with me. Pictures just don't do it justice. It is a "must do" for any rider that is serious!
