So, I've said before that I have a really shitty immune system. Well, this week really takes the cake.
Not even a month ago, I got over a really bad inner ear infection. Now, I have all the symptoms that scream "FLU!" sans the actual influenza virus.
I had been having issues with congestion for the past two weeks on and off, and I had been taking DayQuil and NyQuil religiously. Well, it's my spring break, and it's been one hell of a spring break if I may say so. Emphasis on the word hell. It all started Monday, I guess. I was feeling really, really congested, and my left ear was starting to hurt when I would take a drink or whatever. I just upped my meds from just Day/NyQuil to Day/NyQuil and Advil. Things were pretty level until Wednesday. I woke up and thought I was going to die. Every movement caused me pain, I felt like I was in a daze, and I was running a 102 degree fever. I spent most of my day sleeping, and I got talked into going to the doctor today.
I think I ended up at the doctor's office around 1PM and didn't get out of there until 4PM. While I was there, they tested me for the influenza virus by swabbing inside my nose (and that's a really unpleasant feeling having an extra long Q-tip shoved up your nose), which made me sneeze for a while afterward. Most of the time in the exam room I spent asleep. I could hardly keep my eyes open, my energy is so drained right now. The only reason why I'm awake right now is because of the steroid shot that they gave me. I am, however, feeling kind of giddy because I took some Lortabs. Apparently the doctor figured out I was hurting enough to give me those, which was surprising.
What really sucks about all this is that this is the third time already I've been majorly sick this year. I also know that this isn't going to be the end of me getting sick either. I'm beginning to wonder if I should start up on multivitamins or something. I guess a lot of it has to do with the fact that I'm not eating right, but I'm gradually trying to get myself to eat more. I ate two bowls of chicken noodle soup today, and that's a lot more than I normally eat.
Feel free to leave suggestions on what you think I could do to help boost my immune system and get my health a little more regulated, I guess you could say. I just wanted to rant a bit about what's been going on for the past few days.
