It's a bunch of bureaucratic functionaries and manipulative, self-serving politicians and legislators who more and more want to increase our taxes and control our lives. (Not that your ilk would find that objectionable in the least.)

We aren't the government any more than a school's student body is its administration.

This is completely and utterly not correct. In Spanish, negrita/o is an endearment. If it's interpreted as 'little nigger' than it's the interpreter who is at fault.

No offense, but there wasn't anything endearing about how the person in Honduras was referring to the President of the United States in that statement. Even *I* can figure that much out. ;)

One, it's not necessarily a good stereotype; one man's sound financial planner is another man's skinflint. Anyway, racial stereotypes are always offensive, regardless of whether or not they're "good ones".

Ask a Southeast Asian guy if he likes it when people assume he knows calculus.

Until I see some proof you're Jewish or not a Republican, I can't take your word on any of this.
 
Actually, the really stupid part is thinking they can just enact a law to do this.

The 14th Amendment of the Constitution says: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. "

According to Wiki, the bill's sponsors claim that illegal immigrants (and their spawn) are NOT subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, and therefor not protected by the 14th Amendment, and so the 14th Amendment doesn't need amending.

"Not subject to the jurisdiction of" - I don't think this means what they think it means. :p



Of course, if I was an illegal immigrant, I might love such a concept. "Hey, you can't arrest me! I'm not subject to your jurisdiction!!" :smack:
 
So the Republican Jewish Coalition said that, which means he's wrong and I'm right? Or is he right because he's a Jew and jews are superior? In which case I agree with you and him because that is true.

I still don't see how it's offensive. I thought you were supposed to hate Republicans, not be offended by them.
The executive director of the RJC is right because historical facts are on his side - the tightfistedness of Jews is an offensive stereotype born of medieval persecution. It's rarely seen as a complimentary personality trait, and using it as such is not considered in the best of taste.

Isn't it funny how people who bring up the Founding Fathers, Socialism, Jesus/the Bible, the Constitution and things like that are usually the most ignorant about all of those things? they're just words to throw around, not meaningful concepts.

No, they're symbols, and as the great philosopher Carlin often quipped : symbols are for the symbol minded.
 
Ah, but what if the hot buttered woman was Michelle Bachman or Ann Coulter? Even lonely Sherpas would think twice.
 
Well, there are about 40 BCBS-related entities, and if I hadn't worked in the healthcare field I might be a bit leery about throwing out a name which might or might not actually exist.
