Stupid Republican idea of the day

Sometimes, very rarely in a man's life, can he say he saw or heard perfection. And here it is, right before your eyes by the deep magic of the Internet. You can not take or add a thing. This cathedral of ineptitude is pristine, perfect. It's the Sistine Chapel of fuckwit.
We can all die happy men now - we've found the one, perfect cherry blossom we spent our lives searching for.

Better than the Honduran coup government foreign minister calling Obama a "negrito"? (literally: "little black man", can be interpreted as "little nigger").

My submission today is S.C Republican Party County Chairmen Edwin Merwin (Bamberg County) and James Ulmer (Orangeburg), wrote in a letter to the editor of The Times and Democrat (the Orangeburg, SC paper) that Senator James DeMint was like a Jew "watching our nation's pennies."

I mentioned this to my wife yesterday. She, not believing that someone could be so dumb, thought that maybe they were going for some obscure biblical reference. Yeah - They could only wish. They went straight for the offensive stereotype.

The letter said:
There is a saying that the Jews who are wealthy got that way not by watching dollars, but instead by taking care of the pennies and the dollars taking care of themselves. By not using earmarks to fund projects for South Carolina and instead using actual bills, DeMint is watching our nation

What I like is that Steele seems to think that it took Joe the Plumber to remind the Republican politicians that the thing that will always work on their base is to complain/warn/scare/scream about taxes. Personally, I have never known any Republican to lose sight of that eternal principal.

How did a man this stupid end of as the Republican Minority Leader in the US House? Oh, that's right. He is a Republican.

Is it just me, or is that Michelle Bachmann hiding behind Boehner's left shoulder?

There are so many Republican doing so many stupid things that it finally exhausted me and I quit paying as much attention, but I'm glad other people are.

This one I'd been meaning to post though. It's an entry in Wonkette's blog for something that appeared in the whack-a-doodle Townhall, but apparently even Townhall has some standards, because the link from Wonkette's page is now empty. It's still worth a laugh, simply because Townhall agreed to publish it in the first place.

Townhall said:
The Obama White House is abuzz with talk of witchcraft by first grandmother, 72-year-old Marian Robinson, who lives in the White House residence. A close friend of Michelle Obama says the president is furious at his mother-in-law after learning that she was practicing Santeria, an African spirit cult, in the White House.

[...]

This is how it happened. Marian Robinson became increasingly frustrated as her husband, Fraser Robinson, was hobbled by multiple sclerosis in the late 1980s. The family pastor prayed with her and counseled her, but

Did you hear this clip of Glenn Beck sreeching? LOL!

Democrats want to get government involved in everything possible; Republicans want to keep government out of everything possible. It's as simple as that.
I would have thought this would be obvious, but government is already kinda-sorta-tangientially involved in the selection and regulation of government contractors.

Whether you know or realize it or not, Jane Siberry is a National Canadian Treasure..

Bless your heart.

That's too bad. She got mainstreamed.

I'm going to try to avoid responding any further, because I'm starting to get offended by the equation of "disliking Jane Siberry" with "bland mainstreamer."

I can see their point, apparently Periello's office is at the top of a mountain that can only be accessed with the help of local sherpas and require three weeks acclimation at a base camp. And don't even get me started on his hollowed out volcano lair.

Their sniper can't get a line of sight either.

Townhall shenanigans are the shenaniganiest!

The Moran town hall was the last stop on a 10-city tour for Randall Terry, the anti-abortion activist known for his extreme tactics.

Terry's colleagues put on a skit with a man in an Obama mask pretending to whip a bloodied woman, who kept saying, "Massa, don't hit me no more. I got the money to kill the babies."

Terry himself dressed in a doctor's lab coat and pretended to stab a woman in a gray wig.

"There's no way to pay for this thing without killing granny," Terry explained

P.S. Moran is an awful name for a politician.

Correct. I would much rather have the current system vs. a government-controlled system. With a government-controlled system, costs will increase and quality will decrease.
And yet... everyone else has a government-controlled system which costs less and provides better care than ours. Funny, that.

G. Octo-

There is a law that covers this, but the law has not kept up with the facts. For example, when Vice President Cheney formed a (non-FACA) committee to discuss energy policy, his reasoning was that they were not a FACA committee because they did not form a consensus opinion.

So there is a law, but the law could use some refining due to skillful interpretation from both the Clinton & W. Bush years. But I don't think Mrs. Obama is your boogeyman for why this needs to happen right away.
