Stupid Republican idea of the day

I think Steve Inskeep was getting frustrated at this point.

I posted in one of the other threads that Inskeep has always annoyed me, but I have to hand it to him for not letting Steele get away too easy. Inskeep also gave a minor working-over to a guy this morning (on the topic of energy conservation). If he's going to keep asking tough questions, I might have to start liking Inskeep after all.

Can I play? Ladies and gentlemen, I present T. Boone Pickens, who is certainly stupid and most likely Republican:

"They're opening them (oil fields) up to other companies all over the world ... We're entitled to it," Pickens said of Iraq's oil. "Heck, we even lost 5,000 of our people, 65,000 injured and a trillion, five hundred billion dollars."

Evil, pure and simple from the 8th Dimension.

I'd say to argue that you deserve plunder because you got hurt plundering it is the dumbest thing I've heard since a co-worker told me that insects aren't animals. And that's pretty dumb.

Congress needs to pass a law that allows a mother in such a situation to carry an assault weapon, with a clip holding 40 rounds.

This is a disgusting suggestion. She only would need one round. Why needlessly drive up the price of ammunition when there are already shortages?

Bumping for this.
Yeah, I was going to post that yesterday, but I didn't get it finished because it interfered with the post I was working on regarding the tepid Republican reactions to Tiller's murder, which I didn't get finished because it interfered with the insane attacks on Sotomayor, which I didn't get finished because it interfered with the post about, jeeze, I don't even remember what it was before that...goddamn, there's just too much fucking stupid to keep up with! My desktop is littered with unfinished Dope posts! How anyone can proudly proclaim to be a Republican without constantly cringing in embarrassment is a total mystery to me. Well, unless their name is Carol Stream or clothahump.

Other than just pitching a complete fit anytime Obama does anything, what do they hope to gain from this?
They WANT to be known as the fucking crybaby moronic Party of No...waaaaaaah!

Limousines? What the... Well, thank you for that window onto your own life, Poochie.
Well, let's not forget that the Republicans characterized that particular black man as the candidate who was a country club-attending snob during the campaign, presumably getting their talking points from Bizarro World.

I don't think it would be for the quality of the books, per se, but for her contributions to literacy in general by encouraging and popularizing recreational reading among children (and even some adults).

Dijon mustard? Dijon?

Isn't that...... you know, French?

That's all you need to know.

Well, he works for the people of South Carolina, many of whom voted for Obama. How about, considering the folks he answered to, who are not the people of South Carolina?

Distinction without a difference. If he wasn't acting to advance the interests of the people of SC (and he wasn't), does it matter?

Nope.

I don't like any mustard on my burgers, just ketchup. But I also only eat veggie burgers. So what does that make me?
If you were on an elevator with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Osama bin Laden, and a soldier with two bullets in his weapon, I'm guessing that makes you strangled. ;)

OH Mistah McCottah... he's actually my rep. And I'd have to dig pretty deep to find anything I agree with him on.

Rest assured, we already know he's an idiot who tries to exploit pure BS for political capital. 'Cause lord knows his district in the very heart of the dying auto industry in Michigan cares about nothing more immediately than making sure the Prez apologizes to some cop in Cambridge. There's a concerted campaign to get him voted out of office next time around - for a while this past election day it looked like it might happen, but he pulled it out at the last minute.

If something like that had been in place during the Reagan years would the public have gotten access to the readings from Nancy's astrologers?

Okay, I'm not a huge fan of this thread, but there is clearly something utterly bizarre going on here.

Next up: "Obama spends $20 on haircut, enrages Hair Cuttery Dads."

The bizarre thing going on is that the Republican party is losing it. They've got a serious but low-key civil war going on and the party is lurching in all directions as the politicians and the party organization try to keep the Republican coalition together.

They have NO strategy. They have NO internal agreement. They have NO leader who actually cares about the party and not his own interests. The religious faction is running wild while the financial faction is trying to figure out how to cut them loose while surreptitiously increasing their lobbying of "New" Democrats. The party pundits are almost all insane, or at least think that shockjock tactics are the best way to get their voices out there. They've gone from total political control to losing the White House, Capitol Hill and (hopefully) the Supreme Court. They've gone from hero to zero in less than a year.

And the more they talk, the more they lose. They've tiny-tented their way into irrelevancy.

Oh, absolutely! Go after Michelle Obama, that's perfectly brilliant! Yessirree, Bob, thats a great idea!
