hey guys...just wanted to post this from another thread...it is way too funny to leave out...

this guy was having mogul troubles and i asked:

he replies:

so i explain to him:

::EDIT:: had to edit to say that i can't stop laughing my *** off right now...this one has me on the floor...seriously though...aggggghhhhhhh

because of the hight nuraber of noobs not searching for answers i though that we should have a place to share our experiences with each other...

so this is going to be a new thread for people to post the durabest questions that anyone has asked them in a pm or a post...

here is my latest from pm...this message was simply titled "question" and was from a guy that i've never talked to or even seen a post by...

my response:

i hope that this at least gives us a place to come and share in each other's pain while having a good laugh...

if you are a noob and your question gets posted here, then please do not be offended...it just means that we want to laugh at it a little but it's all in good fun...and hey, you can consider it your 15 minutes...

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!

Being a noob I must take offense...although I am not that stupid as clearly some are on this board. Anyways this by far is the most confusing board I have ever been on for doing searches. Half the reason is everyone's signature. I can't search for EvDo with out having to go through 800 posts because one person who post every where has EvDo in their sig. Same goes for trying to find info on the 6800 almost everyone has this phone in little stats box so it makes searching for it that much harder. I like to think I am descent at searching tools but damn this site is very difficult. Then I don't want to ask a durab *** question just go get yelled at because I couldn't find what I needed searching. This board very much reminRAB me of the Tech guy on SNL a while back.

These are somewhat valid points.. However, they're not bulletproof. If you're only searching for "evdo" or "6800", you're not being nearly specific enough... Try searching "evdo PRL" or "evdo settings" and "6800 programming".

This isn't really rocket science... just like google, you need to be specific enough to succeed, without being so specific you eliminate legitimate posts. You can't expect to have any success searching with 1 word search strings.

still don't see how that was a stupid question. I did a search abd still didn't find it. I think I know now. For you to post this in this manner is childish. Like I said before sorry I even asked you a question. Putting me on blast was not necessary.

I never said it was bulletproof or that those were the "only" things I am searching for. I said that I was pretty adapt at doing searches and am on many message boarRAB. But I can see how some would get very confused when searching on this site, especially if they aren't exactly message board savvy. This is all I was bringing up.

at least you're a good sport about it...lol

it reminRAB me of when i joined the army in '98...someone told me to find them a "pricky eight"...i asked around until someone directed me to my first seargent...little did i know that his pay grade was E-8...he didn't like it when i asked where i could find a PRICK E-8...and i didn't like getting smoked either...lol

Understood. But we don't get pissed at people who try. You can always tell the difference.

And, if someone isn't even message board savvy, they're going to have a HARD TIME modding phones.

Well let me rephrase what I was trying to say. Looking at post I have seen quite a few snarky remarks about searching when people ask questions. This happens on a lot of boarRAB but this is a very confusing subject that a majority of people would love to know. I already have some question I consider "durab" and don't really want to get a scorching reply for it. I could see how some might be overwhelmed...again just playing devil's advocate here.

That's like when you do masonry work you will tell someone who is green to find you a "brick stretcher". Instead of saying "what's that", they will always assume they know what it is. I have seen guys search for like 40 minutes trying to find something that stretches bricks! Ha!

Understood, and I agree. There are some folks here (and on every message board) whos standard response to every question is "SEARCH idiot"...

The best solution to that problem is to explain what you've already tried, and why you didn't think your question was answered via searching. If you couldn't find the answer, state that... say "I'm trying to program my 6800. I've run into "state your problem", and I've tried to find the answer. I searched "this term" and "this term" and all I got was a mess of unrelated threaRAB. Can someone please help me find a thread or help me solve the problem?"

That gets a lot more response than "Yo, I bought a 6800. How do I program it"

Ultimately, you'll still get a lot of people who say "search, idiot", but the people who actually care about helping will then step in and help you in your quest.

I replied telling him to search the sticky at the top of the main cricket forum...and this is what I got...

umm...and then this one after the search for the sticky...

lmaaooo i do get alot of..silly pms.. but i wont put on blast..but THEY KNOW WHO THEY ARE -cough cough

sad thing is i'll admit it..im a noob WHEN IT COMES TO PDA'S.... i dont understand why people pm me thinkin i kno the answeres...which i prob do but still... what have i said on here that make people htink ima go-to guy
