Stupid Doctors

So, I've had stomach probems since I was 9 years old. So, when I DO go to the doctor for it, there's usually a good reason since I hate paying people to tell me the same damn things I've heard for years.

So I go in to Same Day Care on Thursday because I can hardly make it to the bathroom before I need to. It's a very inconvinient problem that I haven't really had in the past. Since I'm going on a trip in about a week, I figured I should get it checked out.

The doctor does some blood work, takes some x-rays and all that jazz. And do you know the genious advice I get? Take a laxative. Now, this is the last thing I expect to hear. WTF kind of advice is that? You have the runs and they tell you to take a laxative.

I'm afraid I've lost faith in doctors.

you know they might know something you don't they did spend a lot of time in some very intense schooling and there might actually be some merit to what they say

Sounds like you may have IBS (Inflammatory bowel syndrome). I had some issues similar to what you describe and I went through TONS of tests, was told all kinds of things and now have found that I have Crohns disease. Diet is an important part of managing this type of problem. Talk to a gastrointerologist not just a general dr and see what they say. Heck, go to several if you have to, I'm telling you it's something to do with your intestines!
Good luck!;)

"Okay, now can I hear from someone that's not a complete retard?"

I'm afraid would have been my response upon being told to take a laxative for diarrhea... :tard:

ROFL. Yeah. That's kind of how I felt.

And Stef, I have been told I have IBS, but other than that, I haven't gotten any help with the condition. They basically just said, this is what you have, sorry you have to suffer with it. Grr.

Ditto^

I was going to suggest the same thing. Though i don't have Crohns (I know someone that did), I had IBS! It's not always that easy to diagnose, but it's controllable once you get the right doctor and the right diagnosis. It is, however, a serious problem. A Gastroenterologist is who you need to see. A laxative is certainly not going to help you if you have the runs! A high-fiber diet is somethign I had to go on and it helped. Exercise also helps (I didn't believe it until I eventually did it and it worked!). But you do need medication if you do have an issue with your intestines. It's SOOOO important to get that checked out. What you are complaining about, especially since it's apparently a chronic problem, could be a sign of more serious issues that you definitely don't want to have!!!! Please get yourself checked out by an appropriate doctor. Your main doctor sounds like a doofus and doesn't want to refer you to someone that specializes in these problems.

Yeah. That doctor actually wasn't my primary doctor. My primary doctor won't do jack shit for his patients and I refuse to see him anymore. I think I'll call the local hospital and see if I can get in to a specialist. I'm just so damn tired of feeling sick all the time. For God's sake, I'm 22 and I feel like I'm 88.
