Studying for a degree with the Open University?

I completed my A-Levels a couple of years ago now and decided not to go to University. I don't regret this decision, but now feel that I would I to obtain a degree and become a secondary school science teacher. I work full-time, and due to financial commitments, I am unable to attend University as a full-time student.

I was looking at studying for a BSc (hons) in either Physical Science or Molecular Science, as Chemistry and Physics are the two subjects I'm passionate about.

I was wondering, how long would it take me to get a degree through this route? and also, would it be a firm grounding to later apply for teacher training courses?

Thanks
