I am writing on behalf of a student who does not have the resources to seek medical advice on the Internet or beyond a pediatric physician.
This young man is 15 and has been suffering from excruciating back and leg pain for the past 7 months. He has had an MRI, and X-rays that are normal. But here is the ODD symptom, he will experience strong and sharp bouts of pain that leave him with scars or stretch marks on his back where he experienced the pain. Pain that doubles him over followed by bizarre marks on the skin in the exact spots where the pain occurred? Now the doctor tells the family it may be parasitic? The only childhood illness he had was Osgood Schlatters disease. The markings on his back are the most puzzling piece-any thoughts, anyone? Routine blood work is normal as well.
