Stuck on short story. What should happen next?

I'm writing a short story for class. I didn't really plan it out, I just started writing. I like what I have so far, but I don' t know where to go with it. What do you think could happen next? (and do you like the scene so far?) Thanks!

The current scene is the main character, a 16 year old girl, sitting in an auditorium with all the other kids in her grade. A teacher is calling out names in pairs, one boy, one girl. They will be partnered together for the next 5 years, until they finish school at age 21. She is nervous about who she will be with, and it goes back remembering her and the other girls talking about who they wished they were to be paired with, and the evaluation of them earlier this year. It then goes back to her name being called, along with her partners name. She recognizes him(its a relatively small class), and they go up and shake hands(like everyone else).

So I have that scene, but I'm not really sure what to do next. Ideas? I just need something to help jump start a writers block.

And to just get this out of the way, yes, there's going to be a romance between them, but it's not going to be the main part of the story. I'd really like the story to have some type of adventure/experience. The romance will happen gradually, but will not be the main plot of the story. I'd like to avoid a story that's just about teen drama (high school, best friends, relationships, jealousy, romance, etc)
