What are the options if the threads on the radiator drain plug, or the threads on radiator itself are striped?

Depending on what the radiator is made of, you may be able to put in a helicoil and then thread in a new drain plug. Take it to a radiator repair shop and they may be able to fix it for you for much less than buying a new radiator. Since the coolant system is under pressure, you want to make sure that the repair is don't properly or you may find yourself standed somewhere.

Use plumbers pipe threading compound and wrap the male end with Teflon tape. You can get it at a plumbing supply store
