Strep Throat & Glands

I had Strep Throat back at the beginning of July, the symptons were a horrendous sore throat, glands in my neck, armpit and groin swelling and generally feeling tired and unwell. I went to my doctor who said it was Strep Throat and gave me a 7 day course of antibiotics (Amoxicillian). The antibiotics didn't seem to be particually effective and I still had a sore throat at the end. On the 8th day I developed a rash which over the next 3 days covered my whole body. I went back to the doctors who said I shouldn't have been given Amoxicillian for Strep Throat as this can cause the rash. I was given a blood test for Glandular Fever (Mono) which came back negative, but I can still feel the glands in my armpits and groin. I was wondering if this is normal? They are not as swollen as when I had the rash.

If you are healthy can you feel your glands? Before I had the infection it wasn't something I thought about.

It often takes a long time for the swelling in your glands to go down. Which isn't a bad thing. All it means is that your glands are processing the junk out of your body. They are designed to collect the bad germs and prosess them out of your system. BUT it can take them several weeks to return to their natural size...and of course now that you have noticed them, you are conscience of them and their size. I wouldn't worry about them unless you get another flare up of strep....And the real reason you treat strep is not for the sore throat, but because it can damage your internal organs such as your kidneys if it is left untreated....
