Try late ninetes/early two thousands SVT Cobra Mustang. Has IRS and lots of potential. A supercharged car can make 500 plus horsepower (some exceed 1000! Go to the SVT Performance website and see) and the independent rear suspension and modern brakes make the car more controllable than many older hot rods. Quarter mile times aren't everything.
The R & D that has gone in to Mustangs for half a century make them the best bang for the buck.
