Street Glide shocks: Stock 12" vs Ultra 13"

I just did the exact same thing to my 2009 FLHX Saturday morning before an overnight ride through the North Georgia mountains. Honestly, I couldn't be more pleased! Mine were take-offs from a 2008 Ultra, as new. Having a 29" inseam, I've been through the stock 12" (eye to eye) stock Street Glide shocks, a pair of 11 1/2" from Phoenix City/Bitchin Baggers and 12" Progressive 440 HD's. The Progressives were too harsh, stock 12" not enough dampening travel and the 13" Ultra shocks JUST RIGHT!!! I had an Ultra a few years ago and it rode like a Cadillac... Missed that for some time. All I know is that it felt like I was back on the Ultra again, ride-wise that is. Guess I really should sell the Progressives and the 11 1/2" Phoenix City/Bitchin Baggers, though. My knees still have a little bend in them and I've gotten used to the height difference.

Boy I sure do wish I'd have done the change to Ultra 13" (eye to eye) sooner!!!
 
I know this discussion is a few months old, but I was wondering if you noticed any change in handling when you put the longer Ultra shocks on your Street Glide? I have the same bike and am looking to do the same.
 
If my memory serves me right you lowered the front end 1" when you installed the 21" front wheel. Now you raised the rear 1". Is the bike now higher in the rear? The reason I ask is because I want to lower the front of mine (21" wheel) for to regain a some slow speed handling. I also want to add the 13" rear shock. If I can achieve my goal by just adding the shocks, I'll just do that.
 
I think the trick is to add pre-09 Electra Glide shocks. I have both stock FLHX shocks and Electra Glide shocks. I actually think that the FLHX shocks ride better when solo, but bottom out earlier. Two-up they seem to be ok. The Electra Glide shocks are fantastic in comparison two-up, but pretty harsh when solo (in my opinion).

I was trying to find the Cadillac-like ride of the 2008 Classic I rented a couple years ago...
