Streaming - multimedia on E61

Hi all,

I have been trying to get different multimedia content to stream off on my E61 but most times than not, its either in windows media, or the S60 v3 browser cant cope with embedded content, or this or that!. I have an unlimited 384kbit download bundle so that should be pretty decent for music atleast. My Orb does work from my pc at home but atm thats the only thing I can fall back on during the morning commute!

Was wondering if you guys could share your favourite links for whatever.. audio/video/tv, stuff that works on ur S60s??

Would be a big help.
Thanks

I read some threads mentioning Cingular TV works (but you dont mention what your operator is)... I know that flash embedded video doesnt work... did you try the Real Player streams? thos should work....

as far as orb, i dont know what their standard is or what kind of software is required to play the streams

Roy,
Actually, I live in Holland so pretty much doubt if the Cingular thing would be available accessing from here?.. Did try the real.com site, but the S60 browser couldnt read the javascript needed for the player and it would just sit there..

Do you have any Real player streams to share?
Thanks.

Hi dolph,

I'm sorry but I havent used the real streams at all... If I recall there were some sites shared by one user that had a list of streams...

Maybe you can google for "real streams" or something of the sort... another option is to search for "e61 tv" or something on here, as I think it was on one of those threads... IIRC there was even an european company that served live tv channels and had a S60v3 client...

good luck, but sorry I cant help more - i just never used this stuff yet...

Not quite sure what you all are looking for, but streaming Internet Radio works great on my e61. Just download the app from here: Nokia Internet Radio . This comes with a generic Shoutcast PLS file which you can edit with your own stations. It works great.

You can then select music that you want to stream over Internet Radio.

Hey, thanks guys. Have installed the internet radio, though the shoutcast site doesnt seem to be working. Otherwise, have gotten some of the bbc radio streams going at the moment. Not bad.

Got any ideas for video?.

Thanks a bunch!

it would be REALLY nice if the built-in flash player supported streaming flash-video... like youtube, etc. bandwidth for EDGE isnt a problem as my tethered iBook (via bluetooth on EDGE in NYC, etc) can play youtube clips just fine

I downloaded the Nokia Internet Radio app and it was working great until I downloaded a stream (mp3 .pls file) from WFMU -- now when it tells me to choose a station and I select "stations", the application exits. It's weird, it doesn't seem to like any form of .pls file (mp3, aac+) file from wfmu, though some other stations' were fine. Any ideas?

update: I went around this by getting the WFMU stream through shoutcast.com, and, while it doesn't connect (server error) to many of the 8 server options provided -- though i finally got it to connect -- at least doesnt crash the app.
