Stranger than Fiction

Just returned from New York and whilst out there saw this picture!!

Its a rather brill little jem!! Will Ferrall shows us he can do straight acting with gusto, and of course Emma Thompson is ever brilliant!!

It's a simple story, Harry Krink starts to hear the voice of Emma Thompson in his head, she is narrating his simple lonely life!! She says he's soon to die, and this sets off a whole string of actions which include him falling in love!!

Its honestly as simple as that!! Anyone else seen this yet??

Saw Babel also, good but too long!! Brad Pitt still so yummy with grey in his beard!!

I really want to see it. I am huge fan of the comedy Will Ferrell but i am hoping he can pull this off aswell.

Looks intresting..

ooohhhh! I haven't watched it yet! But I will soon :-) In fact I will tonight. The soundtrack is fab.

Dustin Hoffman is one of my favorite actors (Al Pacino is the ultimate) and I think Emma Thompson is wonderful.

It's a great film.

I'm a huge fan of Ferrel's comedy stuff (Old School, Anchorman etc..) but this is completely different, an intelligent, interesting film, that isn't without a few laughs, and tells a really good story.

My one complaint, Queen Latifah, cannot stand the woman, and even though she wasn't as annoying here as she is most of the time, I gladly would have done without her.

Definitely one I'll pick up on DVD when it comes out.

I adored it. Very meta. Very post-modern. But all done as a rather lovely, unpretentious package. And for once, I didn't want to punch Will Ferrell - which is always a bonus for his movies.

Oh, and Maggie Gyllenhaal was wonderfully sexy in it. Although she did play a character pretty much just like my g/f - so I may be a touch biased there. :o

Really? Empire (who I trust implicitly) loved it, and it's currently rated 75% fresh on Rottentomatoes. That's pretty positive.

I just saw Stranger Than Fiction tonight and I was very impresed. One of the better films that I have seen this year. It is just a pity that more people wont see it because it wasnt a big release!

Bumping this as I just watched it on DVD tonight. One of the best films I've seen recently - subtle but accessible, non-pretentious, inspiring from a writer's point of view too. All the performances were great, especially from Ferrell who I usually can't stand. Maggie Gyllenhaal (sp?) is very talented, nice tattoos as well. :p
