Strange sounds and occurrences in family home, what should i do?

Over the last week there have been some really weird things happening around my family home that are seriously starting to creep me out. I've been minding the house while my parents are on holiday. Not every night but most i hear really disturbing sounds in the house.

The other night i was watching a DVD in bed and heard someone running up the stairs and into my brothers old room. I checked the entire house (closets and all) and didn't find anyone. the doors are always locked and last night i heard two loud bangs come from the kitchen. I went down to look but there was nothing wrong. Any other strange sounds i heard aren't that bad and were probably the neighbors.

I'm starting to get a bit nervous of being in the house on my own. I know it sounds really stupid but i keep thinking theres someone hiding somewhere in the house, or that they found a way to sneak in. What should i do?
 
I would put powder around inside outside entrances and under windows strategically to pick up footprints. Anybody messing around will leave evidence. This should relieve your anxiety. If no footprints, then, its only those spirits of bye gone years playing tricks on you.
