ok, this may rack many of your brains.
I have a 6200, dual lnb dish, all RG6 cables, sw21.
I am picking up Sat 91 at 91-96%.
I am getting squat diddly on sat 82.
So today i finally recieved a new LNB (the last one was effed) and proceeded to try and find sat 82.
Step one - unplug sat 91 from my sw21 and start skewing my dish... but nothing - 0% all the way around.
So i replugged sat 91 (to make sure i didnt raise or lower the angle of my dish at all) and all of a sudden i get 80% from "wrong sat" on the 82.
Why is the 82 picking up signal when the 91 is plugged but not recieving when the 91 is unplugged?
Understand?
I dont cuz it shouldnt matter whether or not sat91 is plugged in... sat 91 shouldnt affect what sat 82 is getting should it? No?
Kinda confusing and hurts my brain trying to think of why this would be.

Sounds like you through off the alignment while adjusting the skew. Look up your skew set it, then repoint each LNB separately. When installing a dish I do not adjust the skew after pointing. It is a very awkward adjustment to make and keep both LNBs focused. I'm sure some people can do it but it I find skew adjustments after aiming seem to throw everything out of whack and I end up starting over.

Remember the pointing of a dual LNB set up is always a bit of a compromise. If you try to get 100% on 91 you will probably not get 100% on 82. The optimum would be to get as close to the same strength on both as possible. However, this becomes more difficult the farther west you are located and why some users in BC will opt for 2 dishes.

I also take a small portable TV and an old 3100 receiver outside with me to point the dish. That way I don’t have to keep yelling at the wife and asking her what the signal strength is and her yelling back, What?...I don’t see a picture yet!…What am I supposed to be looking at?...I thought you said satellite was better than cable?!

step 1:skew your dish for your location.step2:faceing the dish have 91 lnb on the right, yes I said right, tune in 91 as best you can.step3:Yeha you have 82 on the left.I think the reason you have wrong sat message,is you are tuning in 91 with that lnb on the left, and you are getting the feed from Direcect tv which is west of 91.

Last summer I spent hours with new spoken words as I could not lock sat 82 with a new 30" dish. The delay to confirm with someone in house was frustrating. So took reciever and small tv up to roof. Hooked direct to 82 LNB and got locked 95% strength in 2 minutes. Response time was instant and just had to move slightly to make huge difference. I cranked the bolts in real tight with a large pipe wrench and marked bracket for next time. Bigger dish has eliminated signal fade year round on sat 82 for me.
