Straight pipe bad for bike?

I have an '01 Kawasaki ZX7R. I am going to chop the exhaust and put on a resonated exhaust tip that exits right after the riders foot peg (gp style). I just unbolted the stock muffler and was riding around the neighborhood to see how loud it would be. Not only is it EXTREMELY loud, but I am wondering if there's enough back pressure. It idles the same as it used to, but there are a few differences that worry me. When I was riding, it feels like it is surging barely, but the tach was not showing that the rpm was changing. Also, it seems as though at a certain rpm, it goes a little faster than it did with the stock muffler on, and I'm positive of this.

Overall, I am just wondering if this is really bad for the engine. It doesn't seem to be running really lean because at idle it doesn't surge and I did not see any huge blue flames shooting out.
I will be putting on that resonated tip soon, but that wont add much back pressure. Please help me out on this. Thanks.
