Story writing question?!?

Is it ok to make up your own high school in a story if you are writing a book?
Its a fiction story.

OF course! If you used a real life one then you'd probably have to match up every detail in your story with facts about that school or the students there would be annoyed... If you're writing a fictional story, you can make up a city if you want!

Yes, by all means make up your own high school, but here are some hints. Use knowledge from your own school to make it sound real. Write about the made up school in the prescense of yours. If the jocks at your school are mean, then make them mean in your book. If there is a hot girl/guy at your school, put one in your book. Good Luck!

If it's your story, you can put absolutely anything you want in it.

They call it fiction because the stuff in it is made up. So yeah, if you make up a high school...it's okay.

yes, of course..it should be personalized to fit your personality and character, as you are your own person, and there is no one else exactly like you. In fact, making up your own high school would probably be better in a fiction story than including your own, as it would make it more creative and imaginative. Of course, you can base it off your own high school, but it would be fine, perhaps even better, if you made up your own.
