Storm 2 v. Droid?

I imagine this has been discussed a lot before, but my Storm broke earlier this week and I'm torn between the Storm 2 and the Droid. I use my phone a ton for work so the great email setup for Blackberry makes me lean toward the Storm 2. It feels comfortable to me but the Droid browser is what a browser should be. I have an ipod and use that for games and such, so that's not a huge deal one way or the other (although I haven't seen the extent of apps on the Droid). I use my camera phone for work and have a 9 month old so the camera is also important to me. From what I can tell, both have a great camera but the Droid is slightly better, albeit slower.

Has anyone owned both phones and have an opinion that can help me make my decision? Thanks in advance.

I also had a Storm, then a Storm 2. I returned the Storm 2 for the Droid. I decided to setup OWA for mobile devices through a PIX firewall and try out the Droid. It's the best decision I could have made. The Droid works great with OWA. The only real difference is that the Droid Exchange client does not sync tasks or notes. These were not deal breakers for me buy your mileage may very.

The Droid has much better software and hardware as well. The Storm and Storm 2 both suffer from similar issues with the screen not clicking correctly at times. I just found the whole screen click design as hokey.

I would say Blackberry Storm. Blackberries are much more tried and true. I know a few people with Droids, and they are still glitchy.

I think the main issue is the mechanics of the two phones. With all the "smooth" and "sleek" and "smart" that's been vamped up about the Droids, it's a trade off for the nice solid intuitive functionality of the Blackberries. Even with all the apps and toys that the Droid community is crazy about, you're still going to be able to get everything you need and want with Blackberry.

The Storm and Storm2 is the most horrible Blackberry out there. What's tried and true about the Storms is that Blackberry owners also avoid them.

I went from storm 1 to droid. Storm 2 was an option and id still like to get a baclberry as a 2nd line but the droid has done everything the storm does 5x faster. Even the storm2 is slow compaired to the droid. One thing the droid does not do is email. Atleast not the way blackberry does and there is no alternative to bbm. My company uses bbm to chat amongst ourselfs. We that don't have blackberrys are sol.

Well to each his own. Just remember that Blackberries are the business pro's tool. I think the Droid's fight is mainly against the iPhone, with it's fun features and loaded app market. Businessmen who need the basic practical and dependable tools are probably going to stick with their Blackberries. And as far as the world traveler is concerned, Droid isn't an option until they make a DUAL cdma/gsm phone, like Blackberry already has!

Jibba, you said you used your phone a ton for work. What's your profession?

You're honestly saying that the Droid is more glitchy than the Storms? I'm assuming you have never owned either device.

And if you want email and BBM, then yeah, the BlackBerry's have everything you want. If it's apps, then no. No they do not.

The BlackBerry Storm and Storm 2 are NOT tools for the "business professional." The Bold, Tour, and Curve series are. The Storm series is abysmal for its half-hearted attempt to woo those that like BlackBerries and those that want a touchscreen. The end result is a shoddy, imperfect device that still feels like it's in the beta stages.

If your workplace supports MS Exchange Server I see little reason to get the BlackBerry over the Droid besides battery life. I know that if my school did, I would have sold off the 9700 a long time ago. Surprisingly even the in-call quality of the Motorola is actually noticeably better than that of the 9700.

I'm an attorney and I actually made my decision to go with the Storm 2. I got it earlier this week and just got it set up with my Outlook and am pretty happy so far. I know I'm missing out on a lot of the apps and the speed of the Droid, but it just seems more practical. It came down to needing a phone that I can use to manage my life and I felt that the Droid was more of a fun phone. Plus, I don't like sliders and every time I held a Droid in my hand it just felt clunky, despite being super fast. I did switch to using Opera Mini for my browser on my Storm 2 and that's a nice improvement over the BB browser.

As a business professional I was pretty happy with the Storm 1 despite it's problems (I stayed on top of leaked OSs and such). I'm more pleased with the Storm 2. And yeah, I like Blackberry but also like touch screen because I don't like the little keyboard or scroll ball of the Tour. The phone does a great job for me as far as managing my life and such. I'm a little surprised to see such an adamant dislike of the phone.
