Stories of soldiers seeing strange things in the jungle?

I've been meaning to ask this question for a while now. About a month ago we had 3 Vietnam War veterans come into my school to tell us about there accounts of the war. (this was for ANZAC day) and he told us that they would spend days, even weeks in the harsh jungles of vietnam. He said that many times while in the jungle he would begin to see things out of the coner of his eye and feel like someone was following him even when they knew they were in safe territory. He also said that not many, but a few other soldiers went missing in the jungles, with no trace. Jokingly after that one of the veterans did say "Sounds a bit like that Arny movie". But it was very interesting to hear this story. Do you think all this paranoya was caused by the harsh conditions of war. Have you heard about these stories too? What are your thoughts.

My dad is a Vietnam war vet, and he tells stories like this too. It's paranoia, and of course, people disappear during wars. It is definitely paranoia and stress caused by the war and watching people you are close to die. Look up post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and you'll be able to have a better understanding of it.
