I am not doing well at all. I suffer from panic disorder, ocd, and depression.

First off - has anyone ever had an adverse or bad reaction to an antidepressant? I don't mean a slight increase in anxiety or some tiredness. I mean horrible anxiety and panic along with a huge increase in depression? So much so that they had to discontinue it? If so, I would like to know how long you suffered once the drug was discontinued and what kind of symptoms you had.

Secondly - how many of you had this reaction to an antidepressant that you had been on previously with no problems at all? Only when you tried to take it a second time? It seems like this happens to so many. I read about 50% of people.

This has happened to me with two antidepressants recently and I am barely holding it together. Not only is my nervous system completely out of whack, I have lost faith in antidepressants. They have been the only thing I could rely on to some degree and now I am scared to death. The more I research, the more it seems like these drugs become either toxic or ineffective over time. Not to mention all the people who say have gotten "brain damage" from them. I guess sometimes Google is not your friend!

Anyway, if I didn't have panic attacks before, they are ten times worse now. I can't imagine living life with the way I'm feeling. Not even sure if I'll ever have some degree of confidence again. I have told my doctor about this but all he wants to do is have me jump to another med. I am too scared! The only thing I take at the moment is Klonopin and it is not working like it should. I would go back to the med I was on two months ago that I weaned off of but it wasn't working that well and now I'm even afraid I'll have an adverse reaction to that!

I know some of you say you are not tolerant to antidepressants/SSRI's but if your condition is severe, how do you cope then? My condition is not helped by meditation, long walks, or vitamins. Thanks so much.

this is called the kindling effect - once the AD stops working, reinstating any AD makes everything worse. you could google paxil progress and see what it says there.....good luck.
