Stole my moms personal checks, What will you be face with?

A friend of mine had been stealiing her mothers checks from her check book for about a year now. She would write them to her self and cash them at a local party store. Her mother recently cought up with this and is now contemplating pressing charges. If she were to be charged what would the sentences be? She lives in michigan. I know i know bad bad friend shouldnt have done that, but im just asking. Im not asking for you to tell me how wrong she was i already know that im wondering wht will happen to her. thnaks
