CaCO3---> CaO + CO2

1. how many grams of calcium oxide will remain after 12.25 grams of calcium carbonate has decomposed.

2. what volume of carbon dioxide gas is produced from this amount of calcium carbonate if the gas is measured at 0.95 atm and 10 degrees C.

Please help thanks!

moles CaCO3 = 12.25 g/100.086 g/mol=0.1224
the ratio between CaCO3 and CaO is 1 : 1
assuming 100% decomposition moles CaO = 0.1224

mass CaO = 0.1224 mol x 56.077 g/mol=6.864 g

also moles CO2 = 0.1224
T = 10 + 273 = 283 K

V = nRT/p = 0.1224 x 0.08206 x 283/ 0.95=2.99 L
