Steven Moffat to write Tintin movies

I will say this until the day I die, by Toutatis! I'm glad Tintin is getting a movie made by a team of Americans (not counting the Brit writing it), which will clearly be released here. But why no love for Asterix and the Vikings? Not even a DVD release, by Belenose!

You think that's bad. Japan only translated 3 books and gave up. At least we have the luxury of getting Imported English albums. Why not even a DVD? Would it have been to risky?

France is the same DVD region as Japan, isn't it? You could just import the discs.

I actually have a Japanese edition of a Tintin book. Pretty cool.

It's not really THAT family friendly. There's a good number of murders and some racial stereotypes, not to mention Haddock's heavy drinking and cursing.

I mean it didn't catch on over there even worse than it caught on here. Here, you can find all the volumes of the books, and a "Bargain DVD" copy of Asterix and Cleopatra. Sometimes you could even find Kinder Surprised egss that might/might not have an Asterix toy inside at an import store.

I was thinking of getting a region free DVD play for a while now, and I just might do that and import the DVD myself. Man, didn't they premire this at an American film festival, and that was the last anyone in the US got of it.

And yet they let the Weinstine company pump out it's terrible CGI movies....

Coooool! I'm looking forward to seeing what Moffat does for the intrepid Belgian reporter. Moffat was the man behind '80s kids' classic Press Gang, wasn't he?

Only downside to this is that it might mean he's not available to take over Doctor Who from RTD when series four ends. Or...I dunno. He might be able to squeeze it into his schedule.

They've got foreign film favorites Gerard Depardieu, Roberto Benigni and Monica Belucci, and they're full of goofy humor, so some adults are bound to pick them up either for themselves or their kids. I don't need a dub, just subtitle those suckers. Lazy French.
