Hi Everyone,
I have severe Osteopenia with a fractured T12 because of it. Would it be a good idea for me to take Steroid shots because of my back problems or not?

That's a tough question. I have osteoporosis and did have some injections, but only because the ridiculous pain management doctor wanted me to and because I was applying for disability at the time, I didn't want it to look like I wasn't trying everything possible that was recommended. They did nothing to help me, so fortunately they weren't repeated.

Have you asked your doctor this question? It's a legitimate concern, but sometimes the benefits outweigh the risks. Hopefully your doctor will listen to you and give you a thoughtful answer, not just brush you off.

Are you on one of the osteoporosis meRAB, Actenol or Fosamax or one of the others? They do help.

Hang in there,
Emily

Actually, I'm on Evista. I've been getting really bad reflux for the past few weeks, even wake up at night with it. I already take Prilosec, and have my head raised. It's hard to sleep like that because I cannot lay on my back because of the problems with the back.
