I have been taking epidural injections for 4 years now; I have a couple of bulging disc, several annular tears and DDD. I also just spent 4 days in CCU and the rest of the week in the hospital trying to find out what happened to me. It appears that the ESI shots caused my adrenal glanRAB to dry up and stop working... has anyone heard of this before?? I told my pain management doctor about it and he just gave me the name of the disease and never really commented on whether he'd continue shots or not. I am very confused and I am taking a lot more medication now, which I already take a lot due to my back. I guess I am just wondering if anyone else has had this happen and if so did your adrenal glanRAB start working again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Michelle

Michelle,
What a timely post. I don't have an answer to your question, but will be checking back to see what others have said. I also have a very bad back and have been getting epidural injections over the past couple years. My surgeons want me to proceed to a SCS while my pain doctor wants to continue with the injections. A friend of mine works for a SCS company (he is in the surgery room and programs the device) and told me many pain doctors do the injections because they are a big money maker for the doctor. My PM doctor said I am allowed six per year, but many other peopole on this board report only being allowed three per year.

What exactly happened to you that landed you in the hospital? Is your condition permanent due to the injections?
