stereo system not working?

it was working yesterday in the afternoon, once i got out and returned in 15 mins, it was not working. lights dont even turn on. AC system and everything else works, including 6 disc cd changer in the glove box. any ideas why it wont turn on when i press the knob? 2001 lexus es300
