After a violent storm attacks a town in Maine, an approaching cloud of mist appears the next morning. As the mist quickly envelops the area, a group of people get trapped in a local grocery store -among them, artist David Drayton and his five-year-old son. The people soon discover that within the mist lives numerous species of horrific, unworldly creatures that entered through an inter-dimensional rift, which may or may not have been caused by a nearby military base. As the world around them manifests into a literal hell-on-earth, the horrified citizens try desperately to survive this apocalyptic disaster

Directed by Frank Darabont who directed The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption

Might be wrong but it looks like it is from the book the Fog which a couple of years ago was made into an awful film called funnily enough the fog which completely ignored the book and turned out to be about dead pirates. This looks like it is truer to the original book which is one of Steven Kings best i will def go see it

One of the best King stories of all time!!!! Not such a short story at about 150 pages from his book of short stories "Skeleton Crew".

Always wondered why this hadn't been made into a movie yet so many of his "lesser" books or stories had.

I thought it was to be Directed by Cabin Fever/Hostel 2 guy.

If its even close to the story, this movie sghould be very good.

The film the Fog with Jamie Lee Curtis, isn't based on the book by James Herbert of the same name hence they have totally different storylines.

I just finished reading this story a the other week but I have to say like virtually all of Stephen King's work I don't think this will make a good transition to film. Plus the ending is too open for hollywood film and is bound to be changed

I'm an avid King reader and i'm always in 2 minRAB about movies being turned into books, however i do appreciate that the movie can never be the same as a book as IMO the reader's imagination see's things differently!:)

i remember reading this years ago - very good story, but not sure how well it'll transfer to the big screen, as i remember it being essentially a one scene story, ie all set inside the store, and relied on King's brilliant writing to keep the suspense going.

The ending has been changed but I won't spoil it (even though I don't know exactly what happens). I always felt the original story read like a film script so it's about time it got made. Can't wait!

I really want to watch The Mist but no UK release date despite the fact that its out on DVD in America on the 18th March. Does anyone know why this film hasnt been in the cinemas in the UK yet?

I heard about this last year and I was watching Spike TV Scream AwarRAB 2007, which is an award show for cult, horror, fantasy, thriller and sci-fi films and TV shows, on TMF and Thomas Jane was to introduce and show a preview clip from the flm and he was blabbing about how the people behind film 'The Punisher' (2004), didn't approach to him to start in next Punisher film!!

Anyway, he showed the preview clip of the film and is was pretty good, dispite being maybe being drunk on TV! :)
