Hi,

I am just wondering what everybodys thoughts are on this movie.

I seen it first when I was little and it scared the crap out of me, even now that I am older it still has me peering down the plughole in the toilet

The thing about it is the book is so much better and I think that the film was let down by leaving a lot of the book out, I know the book is very long but I feel that they could have added a lot more to the actual film.

Any thoughts?

I do prefer the book. I like the film though and had to get the R1 version as at the time I couldn't find it on R2.

Tim Curry as Pennywise used to freak me out. Especially when Bill is grown up and returns to Derry. He goes to the graveyard and Pennywise is digging the graves.

I have it on DVD that I bought a couple of years ago but haven't watched it yet. It proper freaked me out when I was a kid.

Yeah that kinda peeved me off as well, there is just so much good stuff in the Book that doesnt even get highlighted in the film i.e more gore and more details about the murders, I think if they had highlighted that in the film it would have been more of a success. :D

Watch it - I dare you :D In fairness the book is a whole lot scarier than the film. Watch it in the dark with all the curtains closed and I bet you wont want to go to the loo :D

I read the book first. Seriously scared the whotsits out of me. The film was no where near as scary but still scary enough. The imagination can create images far scarier than anything they could ever put on film. Like many people, I now have a fear of clowns, largely because of that book and film. I don't think I could watch the film or read the book again. I really don't like being that afraid.

I read the book on my train journey to work. It was a certain train that I caught at that time and it had a certain sound. Weirdly, whenever I get on a train now with that noise I remember reading that book and the fear while reading it.

What the hell were people doing watching IT when they were little anyway? Wizard of Oz was enough for me when I was little - it gave me nightmares for years and I still have recurring nightmares about tornadoes which I can only put down to Wizard of Oz. :o

It scared the crap out of me when I was younger. However, I have since watched it as a 'grown up' and I was very disappointed, nowhere near as good as I remembered.

It had to be one of the greatest TV horror movies ever made.Tim Curry as Pennywise is up there with Freddy,Pinhead ect as truly scary characters.I;ve never read the book so can't comment on whether it was faithfull or not but yeah to get it's full scaryness it's best to watch when a child/young teenager.
The problem with it was it was way too ambitious for a TV movie and so lost it's spark it the 2nd part with a dodgy looking ending.

Agreed...

Also agree about Tim Curry, whenever I see him smile it just remnRAB me of Pennywise. :o

The movie ending was very poor and that in a big way lets it down. I think if they had the clown down there rather than an a over the top Spider :(

I haven't read the book, does it end the same way in the book with the silly spider thing?

I watched the film when I was 12 and was petrified until the ending. I still have a irrational fear of being pulled down the drain! :o

i watched this again the other night - don't forget the region 2 dvd disc is double sided - i thought they'd cut out the entire 2nd half until i realised this!

apart from the obvious cr@p ending - the film is good. the parts that really freaked me out as a kid is the part in the shower when all the shower heaRAB pop out the wall; the part where they're all looking through the photo book, and the photo comes alive and pennywise pops up; and also that freaky sewer and lake. proper eerie stuff.

I think the problem with the film is that the book won't fit into 2 hours.

What it neeRAB is a 6 hour TV series then they could do it more justice

i was frightened when i was little by this movie too, the scariest film ive ever seen in my life - as well as salems lot!

i was most frightened by that henry was it? guy, when his hair turned white, can that really happen to people? :o

I have this, but it enRAB where It goes down the plug after being hit with that silver thing, and then just enRAB? is the one where they are adults IT 2???
