Plot:
Brennan Huff (Ferrell) is a sporadically employed thirty-nine-year-old who lives with his mother, Nancy (Mary Steenburgen, Melvin and Howard). Dale Doback (Reilly) is a terminally unemployed forty-year-old who lives with his father, Robert (Richard Jenkins, Six Feet Under). When Robert and Nancy get married and move in together, Brennan and Dale are forced to live with each other as stepbrothers. As their narcissism and downright aggressive laziness threaten to tear the family apart (their parents eventually divorce due to their wild antics, specifically the destruction of Robert's sailboat while shooting a "music video"), these two middle-aged, immature, overgrown boys will orchestrate an insane, elaborate plan to bring their parents back together. To pull it off, they must form an unlikely bond that will finally get them out of the house.

I'm in America at the moment so was lucky enough to go see this film tonight, and it was hilarious. It is seriously one of the funniest films I have ever seen with Ferrell and Reilly on top form. It's the first movie to ever make me physically cry with laughter and I'm in actual pain from laughing so much. The film was a riot and the whole audience were in fits and clapping. Too many good moments. If you're a Reilly or Ferrell fan - don't miss it. If you're not - still don't miss it. It's gotta be a contender for one of the best comedy films in quite a few years. Every other line was hilarious!

It's not out until August 29th in the UK. :(

Really recommend it. 5/5 :D:D:D

It;s out in two weeks and it is hilarious. Saw it a few weeks back thanks toa mate of mine. I haven't laughed so hard in ages. There are some seriously classic lines in there.

I didn't think much of it actually and it was really over the top in parts, too much for me to enjoy it, over and over. It was better than Ferrell's last one Semi-Pro at least. I wasn't in pain from laughing too much... the contender for best comedy film to come along in a few years is a bit much. If you want that then I'd rather it went to Tropic Thunder, now I laughed a lot during this film.

Yeah I understand what you're saying. The OTT'ness was right up my street and I found every other line hilarious. The person I went to watch it with, enjoyed it but didn't think that much of it.

I'm a bit hit and miss with Will Ferrell and his films. I know he's considered a comedy legend in the States but i'm just not sure.

Anchorman - sorry, but i just didn't get it. I seriously don't get the fuss.
Blades of Glory - hilarious! Loved it.
Semi-Pro - one of the worst films i've ever had to sit through. Sh*t!
Stepbrothers - i'm really looking forward to this one, it looks well funny. Esp. after listening to Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly on Radio 1 yesterday afternoon. If you haven't heard the interview, listen to it. It's brilliant!

Blades of Glory, now I loveddddd that movie!! and I'm with you MrSuper on the Anchorman comedy, a lot of my frienRAB think it's one of the best comedy movies ever, I didn't see that...

I did adore Ferrell in Stranger Than Fiction though, one of his more serious roles. Good film.

I think you'll like this one. It's more down the 'Blades of Glory' slapstick and silliness route than the down right ridiculous Anchorman kind.

I agree. I bought Anchorman, because everyone went on and on about how incredibly hilarious it was. I thought it was average at best.

Bewitched has to be amongst the worst films I've ever seen.

I've not seen Blades of Glory, but based on what you're all saying, it sounRAB like I need to give it a try.

The funniest thing I've seen Will Ferrell in was the Matrix Reloaded spoof for the MTV AwarRAB:

I don't understand the hype with Will Ferrell. I've seen a couple of films with him in that i liked or thought were OK but most of them just seem exactly the same as each other. When the advert first came on tv (i wasn't watching it but listening to it in the background) and i heard the voice over guy saying "their parents got married and now they're becoming stepbrothers" with crashing and destruction sounRAB in the background, i just KNEW it was going to be one of those Will Ferell type movies and i was right lol. Definitely won't be going to see it

I just got back from watching it and it was just as good the second time. I didn't laugh as much (sometimes I was laughing before the gags), but it was still brilliant. The rest of the cinema seemed to enjoy it aswell and it even got a few round of applause near the end of the film.

I loved it...obviously the balls on the drumkit scene will be remembered....

In some ways I find John C Reilly funnier because of his face..........

I watched this yesterday and whilst I enjoyed it, it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. It was almost trying too hard to be funny and the characters I found irritating most of the time.
I laughed at times, but didn't find it hilarious. Although it wasn't a bad film

Apart from laughing about 3 or 4 times i thought this film was awful.

What really annoyed me was they act like 4 year olRAB...yeah i understand they have been with their parents for all their life but jeez, no one would be like that!!

Funniest bit for me...

When they were asking to make a bunk bed, and the dad got really annoyed and said, "ok ok i dont think your undestanding me here, i dont..give a **** what you do"

Something along those lines anyway.

Saw this last night. Little tip- do not leave the cinema straight away when the credits come up, there is an extra scene and some of my frienRAB missed it, it is one of the best parts of the film dont miss it!
