Am about ready here to bite the bullet and get the injection for my stenosis.

Honestly, though.....have any of you out there gotten relief? I've tried everything else....physical therapy, anti-inflammatories (but had to stop taking them because of severe upper GI problems). Am taking Tylenol now, which really doesn't help.

Any input greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Linda

Epidural injections often help tremendously. My first one lasted 6 months with about 75% relief. Its a simple low risk outpatient proceedure. May have some pain after, but with good results your pain will be relieved in 3 to 5 days. They can last for months or even years.

I had two, and one of them lasted one day. About a month later I had L5/S1 fusion surgery. I suppose it's worth a try, though, because some people do have good results.

I had 3 of them in my back and 1 in my neck.
The neck 1 lasted about a year.
The 1st back 1 lasted a couple of days .
The 2nd 1 didn't take.
So they used an ex-ray type thing to try to get the medicine in the exact right spot.
Well they hit the nerve with the needle and i have been suffering with nerve pain, high sensitivity and nurabness from lower back to toes for over 6 years now.

Linda-
I just had an epidural injection about 2 weeks ago and it is helping me. Actually, this is probably my 6th injection over the past couple years. I think only one time did it not help my pain much. I have Degenerative Disc Disease, Mild Stenosis......but my pain is primarily coming from nerve damage that resulted from two very large disc herniations.

My pain management doctor does his injections at a surgery center using fluroscopy (sp) x-ray guidance. This allows him to see exactly where he is injecting the needle. They also put you to sleep for this, which I prefer!

I think you should try it. I also have GI issues and had to stop taking a Long Acting Narcotic a few weeks ago. As a result my pain levels were through the roof. It wasn't until AFTER my injection when my pain was reduced by about 50% that I realized how much pain I was in. I told my husband that I will NEVER be in that much pain again. I dont know what I am going to do when this injection wears off..and it will, but I cannot go through life in so much daily pain.

Best of luck to you! If you have any other questions, please let me know.
