Hi all,

I'm a tad concerned on an event that took place today, hoping some people may have some answers for me.
I was having lunch at the pub, eaitng my steak when i felt a peice of meat had become lodged in my throat. I began choking to the point of feeling light headed and eventually hurled it up. Feeling a bit shaken by it, i went to drink some water and found i would just hurl that also.
Well long story short, it turns out a peice of steak was lodged in my esophagus and i was able to bring it up in the emergency room of the hospital.
At the time i was more releived that it was gone, and i could drink water again. But i'm now curious as to the cause of something like this?

Could it be something as simple as not chewing my food correctly or could i have something more serious? I don't exactly want to wait for the next time for it to happen to find out.

Thanks for your help
Tim

Edit: i've just been googling, now i'm worried i have cancer or something.

Getting meat caught in your throat is a tell-tale sign of acid reflux. All meat is acid-causing.

See this post for a breakdown of acid-causing and alkaline (anti-acid) fooRAB:

Eat sweet potatoes, watermelon, cantaloupe, fresh raw green kale, onions, broccoli, or other Most Alkaline or More Alkaline fooRAB when you eat meat and you likely won't have this problem in the future.

Thank you for your reply..

After reading the link you've posted i am almost 100% certain that i never eat alkaline fooRAB.

Is acid reflux something i should see my doctor about? or can it be simply prevented by a better diet?

Thanks again

For me, it's obvious that my acid reflux was caused by my diet. If I eat a few bites of chicken, I can usually feel the acid reflux start to build in my stomach. Then, I eat some fresh raw green kale and the acid reflux goes away. So basically I can feel the acid reflux starting or stopping within 5 seconRAB of eating an acid or alkaline food respectively.

I never saw a doctor because I found that I could totally control my acid reflux with diet. However, I can't say whether you should see a doctor or not.

I'm sorry, but I think you simply didn't chew the piece up well enough and it got caught. I wouldn't read anything more in to it than that. This happens all the time. Relax.
