Stay out of Newport RI

Bingo. All you'd have to do is show the guy your EPA stamp and he can't write the ticket. If he does, either have him call a supervisor to the scene or do it yourself.

The factory installed HD EPA mufflers are stamped at the very bottom of the muffler. And the stamp cannot be seen without a mirror. If a mirror is needed quickly for the officer to see the stamp, screw off one of the handlebar mirrors if you have 'em.

I go down to ride in the Newport area several times a summer. Never had a problem. They do warn you with big flashing signs that loud pipes are not allowed. I have a stock EGC. Never had a problem. As far as parking they opened up a couple of dozen parking areas near the water front for bikes only, and each area takes several bikes. They dont want you in thier parking lots, they rather have you go down to the reserved areas.

Like all places . Not all Bad folks . The North East can be a beautiful place but I've found no use for their views on how our country is governed. Any controversial issue out there seems to come from areas like this. It's a shame.

Thanks for the info but I'll give in and say you'll never see me ride there but anytime you can, come and ride here in WV. You won't have too worry about much here just watch for deer and enjoy the ride.

that was my thought too. but never let a chance to slam the other side of whatever party you belong to, its becoming the american way

even if you have a ton of $$$$$$ WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU GO TO A PLACE THAT IS FULL OF , well if i have to explain you would'nt understand. just stay away bike or not!!! just my 2c, and yes i know what that's worth.

Well, I was there with my family about three years ago. I saw tons of motorcycles, because I wished I had mine there. So I don't know what to think about this post......
Newport, RI is a beautiful area and I had thought I would like to go back up that way on a ride someday.
Now I don't know.

Come to NH..beautiful riding and more mc per capita than any other state..only place that is getting bad is over towards Hampton Beach....pushing noise ordinaces hard...other than that Live Free or Die

I live just 30 miles away and go to Newport on a regular basis. Never had an issue as described. What has changed from all I can tell recently is that there is parking set up for motorcycle's only and there is no charge for it. Cars parked right across the street from the bikes are paying via meters or up to $20.00 for a spot. Yep, there are signs as you roll into Newport about loud pipes. I have V&H Ovals on my 05 Ultra, not loud and probably no EPA stamp??? Not sure, never looked. The other thing that has changed is some of the pubs (West Deck) that used to allow bikes to park in front of them can't any longer (it's a fire lane now) so you have to pay to park down there. And yes, quite a few of the lots do turn away bikes but I've found that to be when you are closer to the free bike parking areas. Down by the West Deck area they will be happy to sell you a spot for $20.00 and let you put 2 or three bikes in it. Just my .02
