Statute of Limitations?

It varies some. Usually, the SOL is 7 1/2 years. But, if you have a Warrant...there is no statute. They can look for you until they Find you.

EDIT: @ Bruce: It IS 7 1/2 years for Some felonies. Why would my Lawyer Lie? I saw it in the ARS books. Besides, read your Own link--it is as high as 6 years in CA.......None for Murder. Who Knows what the IL laws are, when Obama had been a senator?...

Say, if you actually "did" the crime in IL and you fled to CA, if they didn't find a suspect within the staturtes,it is OK for you. If you had/have a warrant in IL, and then fled to CA to avoid prosecution...that is a Fed. violation.

Murder has no SOL.

The statute of limitations is determined by where the crime took place, not where the offender or victim live.

If the offense was in California, it will be 1 year for most misdemeanors, but can be up to 3 depending on the type of crime
