Statistics - the interquartile range, what does it mean?

I know how to find the IQR and that it shows how spread out the data is, but I don't understand what that means exactly.

Does it mean my results won't be biased if I use that set of data?

Sorry I don't really know how to phrase this.

I just don't get what the interquartile range actually is.
