The figure is a composite bar consisting of copper rods encased in an aluminum sleeve. The working stresses are 10 ksi for copper and 15 ksi for aluminum. Assuming that the ends of the bar are atached to rigid endplates, determine the largest safe axial load that can be applied to the bar. The total area of the copper rods are .8square inch and the area of the aluminum sleeve is .4square inch. The modulus of elasticity of Cu is 16x10^6psi and for Al it is 10x10^6 psi.
