Static screen and loud pop with PS3 HDMI

Does any one get some static and some crackling pops when they start their ps3 or change a game?

no, nothing I use a radioshack hdmi cable

My tv doesn't do that, the screen turns blue instead. I think it does that when the ps3 switches to the hdmi connection.

yup, i've got the exact same problem, but it doesnt do it on startup, just when it goes into the game..i even tried switching hdmi cables, as the one i had first was a cheapo i got for free w/ a dvd player, but that wasnt it, i dunno why it does it

Yes, I thought it was a bad hdmi cable or an error, but it only occurs when I startup a game.

I think its when it upscales to 1080i from a native 720p set but of course I could be wrong.

I get that when you try to play an PS2 game, other than that it's nearly flawless when I switch from Crossbar to Game.

The pop isn't bad. Is it like the pop you get on monitors when you change the resolution?

Yea thats what I figured it was, because i tested it on another hdmi cable and it did the same thing.
