Static from iphone, using cigarette lighter for power

I hope someone out there has had this problem and can give me advice about it. Here goes, when I am using my Iphone to listen to my tracks, I get a constant hum and static(it's quite noticable)when I use the cigarette lighter for power to keep the battery up, when I unplug the cord from the lighter the static is gone, I think it is interference from the motor, Is there a company or product out there that knows of this problem and sells a fix for it or is there an easier fix? A bit more info, I use the speaker jack on the phone into the CD plug adjacent to the radio. This is a significant problem for me as it totally ruins the ride. Oh and I ride 99 Ultra Classic

hoping for help

Jim

One of these might do the trick....

http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=car+radio+noise+filter&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-USfficial&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=10769920208547234726&ei=H5KFTLOLHsaqlAf59PzwDg&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CDQQ8wIwAA#

Make sure it is one that has the ground wire(it has a capacitor in it as well as a coil).

Connect it to the positive wire behind the lighter and ground it to the frame.

Mike , thanks for the info, don't want to be a dunderhead, but could you if possible, narrow it down to a specific item, i went to the link you gave, then it got more confusing.

Thanks
Jim
