State of Play

why was there a special question and answer session on monday after film preview?:confused::confused: i wanted to go but could not make it.:(

Saw this earlier today - loved the twist, though one thing puzzled me,
Cal realised he hadn't mentioned to Anne how much Sonia Baker was being paid, yet she knew. How did she know? Did her husband tell her? How did Cal then make the leap from that to realising it was Stephen all along? Anne seemed to disappear from the story at that point.

I've never seen the BBC original, so can't compare.

8/10

I haven't seen the original, so had nothing to compare it to.

No question and answer session to the show I went to.:)
Wouldn't mind seeing it again actually because lots of twists.

Yeah Tremse that also niggled me too. It was a huge leap from
asking how she knew the figure to realising that Stephen was behind the hitman all along and was involved right from the very start.

So yeah saw it today, cracking thriller! Fantastic film. It grips you from the opening scene and never lets go. It's nice to see a film made by intelligent people for intelligent people! ;)

Everyone acted well but Russell Crowe, he really is a quality actor. I had the biggest shock when i saw
Jason Bateman
appear on screen, i had no idea he was even in the film! He's hardly been mentioned - it's all Russell Crowe/Ben Affleck/Helen Mirren - but his performance was hilarious - in a good way!!! The motel scene was very funny. Loved his character! :D

I thought the identity of the villain was obvious a mile off & the plot was very by the numbers.

Crowe just about saves it as the grizzled crusader for justice.

I saw the BBC version on DVD about a year ago. I wondered whether to watch it again before seeing it and I'm glad I didn't. I thought Russell, Ben and Rachel were great, as well as Helen, but I wanted more from Dominic's character - Marc Warren did a magnificent job with him in the series so I was hoping we'd see more of him in the film
