starting out photography with a Sony Cyber-Shot F717, any advice in general? :)?

i will be using a Sony Cyber-Shot F717 and sometimes a Nikon FE, they both used to be my mothers

The sony is required because my teacher strongly rrecommendsa digital camera :)
 
read the manual and get to know your camera and all of its functions VERY WELL. it might take a while to perfect everything on the camera, but it will be like a whole new camera when you do!
