Ok, i want to get into dirt bikes i had to wait till i was 13 so here i am. I can now buy one, my dad said i have to get a 250cc and i want it to be a low price around 1,000 to 2,000. Got any ideas?

If you're 13 and this will be your first m/c riding, a dirtbike is the best way to go. But I wouldn't even think about starting on a 250cc bike. I'm guessing your dad doesn't have much dirt riding experience. My kids are one year apart in age and when they were 12 and 13 I got them a Yamaha TTR125. This is a four-stroke engine which any beginner should use. They used it for two years (one for my son the older) before they even talked about needing something bigger. The two-strokes rev up so quickly that they will loop (go over backwards) very easily. Also modern dirt bikes have so much suspension travel (up & down) that the seat is high off the ground (usually 34 inches or more) and it's hard to touch the ground. You really should test-ride some different ones before buying. I'll bet that you decide a 125 four-stroke is plenty. The two-strokes now are used almost only in racing. A two-stroke 125 can get away from a full grown rider.

if your just learning to ride? a 250cc has a bunch of power they are wheelie machines.something smaller to start out with would be better,so you can really get the feel for the bike and learn what the horse power can do! 80 cc 100 cc would be more than enough for 13 yr old to learn and start out on! always wear a helmet and protect your head!

i dont know if you can get a 250 for 1000 or 2000 if you want a new model you aint gonna get it for that price unless you look at older models i would think you should start on a 125 that would be cheaper and easier to ride but it is up to you if that is what your dad wants you to get a 250.

Ok, if your 13 you probably are like me you want power but, you should probably start smaller. Your height also matters. Like I ride Honda I have a CR because I race you should have a crf or ttr somethin like that. You can probably get a 04 or 05 in great condition for about 1800 you just need to look in Autotraders and a local newspaper
