Ok so im losing my mind here, this is what all i have replaced, rebuilt carb, ignition coil, starter relay, battery cables, starter cable, plugs, wires, voltage regulator, and yet I am STILL having this problem, first off I cant get the truck to start, it wants to but never gets past the winding of the key crank, sounds like its almost there but nothing, second after holding the key over for about 5 seconds the power seems to drain from the battery, the battery was new last year and i never drove the truck often, in fact i unhook the battery whenever i am not trying to start it, anyways, when the guy sold me the thing he had to hold another battery to the one in it to start it, he said it was the voltage regulator, so i replaced it and a brand new battery, I am stuck and tempted to just walk through everything again, plugs, wires, etc. I have no idea what is wrong and would greatly appreciate someones input who has experience in this field. Also after trying to start the truck and with no success when you release the key you can hear a thumping noise, I think its coming from the starter, its constant for about a minute then stops, thump...thunmp...thump...thump..... no Idea , PLEASE HELP!!!

Since you replaced so many things already it sounds like the battery or starter. Cheap batteries often go bad in less than a year. Have it checked and your starter at the same time at your local parts store. Then replace them as needed. If both are good put a fresh charge on the battery. Then if it cranks over well and doesn't seem to get spark, check your rotor and cap. They can wear out and crack. Make sure your timing hasn't gone off because of a loose distributor bolt too. After that there is not much else but your on board computer that could be wrong (if you have one). I did have a Buick once that had a plastic timing gear that kept jumping so I got rid of the car.

What year? Electronic ignition or points? Bad box or points... first thing, check for spark, if it has spark, try priming the carb with a little gas and see it it will start, all it takes is commpression, spark and gas..
