Starter motor on Kawasaki ER-5?

For anyone who's had to do it, about how much does it cost to replace a starter motor on a 1999 Kawasaki ER-5? It's not something i need to do right now, but i know its a problem that's creeping up on me.
Please just answer the question.
 
Don't know about a new one but don't forget to check out the breakers yards first.
 
Starters seldom fail although I guess yours could be. If it's making popping or crunching noises or sometimes won't engage, then it's probably the stater clutch, something that does sometimes fail. If it doesn't crank right, check out the wiring and connections first. If it actually is the starter that's cranking slow, take it apart and check the brushes for tension, length and cleanliness of the commutator.
