Started Spiro Today!

Very happy my Dr. agreed to give Spiro a try. I tried Accutane late last year, but had to stop due to severe side effects. I'm hoping Spiro is the answer, I've read nothing but positive things about it.

What are others' experiences on Spiro?
Any side effects?
Anyone experience weight loss? I've read a bit about this (and hoping!)
 
I've had good (not perfect) results on 100mg/day. I did lose weight, but it is water and you really should try to compensate by drinking a little more water. Eventually your body adjusts to it.
Side effects... I started on 50 mg/day and for the first two weeks had to pee all the time. After a month the dose got bumped up but by then I was back to normal as far as going to the bathroom.
It did make my perioRAB come closer together.
All in all no bad side effects, and no more zits. Just still have some blackheaRAB and bumps.

thanks for the responses...im almost two weeks into it and i already notice my face is a lot less oily (one of the effects i was hoping for!)
 
Spiro is the cure for me. After almost 20 years of frustration and desperation it turns out that I just had overactive androgen absorption. Spiro is a miracle and much safer than Accutane. Good luck! Give it time, but I saw results really quickly. Don't give up!
 
Hi smartpants, what side effects did you experience with accutane? I have been on spiro for a year and it improved my skin alot but I still have acne. My dr decided to put me on accutane. I'm a little worried about the side effects.
