I was once told that if you "start over" in college that you will not qualify for financial aid. 13 years ago I medically withdrew from a very expensive college, had mediocre/bad grades and was a piano performance major. Now, I want to go to a small community college to become a Registered Nurse to work in hospice. Thing is, will the community college want my transcripts? If they do, the old college will probably not release them since I still owe them four thousand dollars. I'd like to just "start over" as a freshman, but a good friend once told me that you can't do that and be eligible for financial aid, that you have to drag your history around like a ball and chain. Does anyone know if this is true? Can I start anew and still receive Federal Aid?
