Hi,
I am currently connected with Starchoice and thinking of moving with BEV. I understand that the receivers (starchoice) cannot be used with BEV service, but I am wondering, whether I can use my Starchoice dish for BEV service or not? Please let me know if someone has an answer. Many thanks in advance.

The dish can be used but is not as good as bell dish. Bell will also install a free dish and if receivers are rented the additional receivers if you wish to rent will also be installed free. Purchased receivers include 1 free dish and install of one receiver. All additional receivers will be 50$ each to install.

Regardless of what Exvu.Tech.Mtl says the Starchoice Dish is as good as a Bell Dish, better in a lot of cases because the newer ones are plastic and therefore much lighter.

You ask if you can use the Starchoice Dish. Yes you can but you CANNOT use the LNBF on that Dish, they are NOT compatible with Express Vu's System.

If you move over to Express Vu, then you can use all the Cables, provided they are good quality RG6 and the Mount that your Starchoice Dish is using. The new Express Vu Dish would just be replacing the existing Dish.

Renting up to 4 receivers you will get free installation for a 2 year Term.

If you buy receivers, remember that as well as the $50 charge for all but the first receiver, you would also pay for the multiswitch if required.

Agreed that technically, the *C pan (elliptical) is superior to the Bev pan, but probably NOT worth the effort as retrofitting the circular LNB's on the mount can be done, but is a P.I.A.

Now if you did happen to have a pair of the *c 24" or 30" pans, then a stock DTV lnb will bolt right in and other than adjust for about 2-5 degree's elevation difference, this combo will be FAR superior to the 20" bev dual.

Just get a free Bev dish and install and see how it goes.
Keep your *C dish as you may want to switch back after your sentence, er contract is over.

I agree, I have seen many Starchoice 24's used for Express Vu, they are a better Dish in my opinion.

I also agree with your idea that the customer should keep the Dish until after the Contract period is over, they should also hold onto the receivers.

As has been mentioned, the mount and cabling (provided it's in good shape) can be reused. I did just that many years ago when I switched from Bell to SC. The installer took all of about 10 minutes since I had already pulled off the Bell dish.

If I remember, early SC dishes were made by Channel Master (at least my 60E was). That would explain their durable construction!
