Yeah, if you start in sequential order you'll give up after thirty minutes out of sheer boredom. I'd argue that there's very little 'story' content in TPM.
Episode I isn't an awful film... it just got thrashed by fan boys who don't realise that, these films were made in the 1970's when they were 10... and the new films were not made for them in the last 90's for when they were 30, but for 10 year olRAB in the 90s...
They go on about how its just a cheap marketing exercise, but excuse me... didn't Star Wars invent movie merchandising?!?!
Can't see anything good coming of it. So much of the plot of 4 5 & 6 would be spoilt by seeing 1 2 & 3 first. 1 2 & 3 assume you already know what happened in the oiriginal trilogy.
Er no. I didn't see the OT until 1997, a mere two years before The Phantom Menace. I was 16 and enjoyed them immensely. I don't think I matured much in the next two years; not enough, anyway, to explain my extreme hatred of episode 1. It's simply a BORING film with little plot, padded sequences (the Pod race is waaay to long) and no understanding of what made the original films 'work'. Your point may be valid, but for the fact that people myself included have nowhere near as many problems with Episode II (2002) and very few problems with Episode III (2005).
Well I saw Star Wars in 1997 when I was 9 and I thought they were great.
I then went and saw The Phantom Menace in 1999 when I was 10 and I loved it. I thought it was great.
But now I'm 16 and when I see The Phantom Menace I still tihnk its great but I can see its flaws very clearly.
So basically when I was younger I wouldn't see the films flaws but as I got older and saw them so much easy. I also did think Jar Jar was great but now do dislike him.
I thought Revenge of the Sith was fantastic. The best out of the prequels by far. Maybe even my favourite SW film! I didn't particularly dislike eps 1 and 2, but i can see that they did suffer with some problems. You'll be pleased to hear that Jar Jar is hardly in ep3 at all. Palpatine was amazing! The acting was better than in episde 2.
i saw the OT when I was about 8 and that was only about 5 years ago! The point is, even though we can manage much better special effects nowadays, we can't live up to the storyline of the originals. I didn't mind TPM but the attack of the clones was one off the worst films I've ever seen.
You should watch them in the order of 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3 so you don't ruin the twist in the original trilogy.
