Well, the movie was an afterthought by Lucas. It wasn't originally planned to come to theaters until he saw the footage. So technically, the series came first, then the movie.
It does have a connection with the series, since it helps set up the TV show. Also, I mirrored the topic at the General Animation Forum, so it isn't exclusive to the CN Forum.
The Washington Post did something similar, although at times I couldn't tell if the reviewer was bashing the movie or not. He mentioned how you have to be "high" on Star Wars to see it and said the mountains(or was it the clones themselves) resembled dild*s.:ack:
