"Star Wars: The Clone Wars" Feature Talkback (Spoilers)

Well, the movie was an afterthought by Lucas. It wasn't originally planned to come to theaters until he saw the footage. So technically, the series came first, then the movie.

It does have a connection with the series, since it helps set up the TV show. Also, I mirrored the topic at the General Animation Forum, so it isn't exclusive to the CN Forum.



The Washington Post did something similar, although at times I couldn't tell if the reviewer was bashing the movie or not. He mentioned how you have to be "high" on Star Wars to see it and said the mountains(or was it the clones themselves) resembled dild*s.:ack:


Also, it looks like the TV series might debut in October on CN.
 
This movie was awful. I gave it one star because it's Star Wars. The music was not Star Wars, Anakin's padawan (whatever her name is) was unbearably useless and annoying. The story was awful. Why does George Lucas beating this zombified horse? Star Wars, phenomal while it lasted is done. Clone Wars was so bad that my brother tried to yank his teeth out while watching (no,he is not disturbed he was beyond bored)I don't know how many times I've apoligiszed to him for making him watch that abombination.
 
I find it sort of amusing that the series is about a future murderer and his future victims pal-ing around with each other. I mean, we all KNOW what's going to happen. Anakin will become a traitor, aiding in the deaths of all his friends and allies who loved and trusted in him. He becomes a rather brutal murderer of children, himself...not just on one occasion, but two. How are we supposed to feel about that?

...kinda odd to make him such a 'hero' in this, that's all I'm sayin'. :sweat:
 
Who's your grandfather? Gary Kurtz produced Star Wars and Empire, but dropped out for Return of the Jedi, and all the other producers since then have been people who are more than happy to tow the Lucas company line about how awesome the Star Wars universe is.

By the way, I just has brunch with Akira Toriyama and he's going to let me write a new Dragonball title. :shrug:
 
I saw the movie on labor day weekend and I have to say that while at times it was a bit dull, it was still fun and had some interesting things in it. I mean, who would have expected a baby hutt? Ahsoka was pretty interesting, although she was obviously there to target the kid audience. THIS Anakin was far more likeable than the brooding whiner we see in the live action movies, and I felt like he did a better acting job.(different director).

I did not like the voice for Obi-Wan...at times he almost sounded dead on, but others the voice wavered more than a bit. But this is the first three, and even though they probably did not film them in order I will give him a break. I was so sure that General Loathsome was Rob Pualsen doing a bit of a John Cleese impersonation that I was surprised at the credits. I also thought that Zero was Dan Castleneta(sp)...it was a dead on impersonation of his Megavolt voice with a Louisianna sounding twist. It was cool they got Sam Jackson for Mace, but he didn't have that big of a part. And Apparently there are Australians in the Star Wars universe as well as British folk ;)....good voice for Rex though.

The only thing I didn't like was the ending, and just as I thought it, even a guy in the theater shouted, 'That ending stunk!' It's like the writer took a coffee break, and then suddenly ran out of ideas... Either that or it was tacked on for the movie.


The animation didn't look bad, but the screen was blurry, so it was tough to see details. I did notice that Anakins Adam Apple looked like it was comprised of about 4 pixel squares and not mesh smoothed at all. I didn't care too much for Palpatines design either...Also, was it just me, or did the light saber effect for some reason look cooler here than it did in the actual live action movie?

All in all the series should be fun...

Oh, and the Prequals where SUPPOSED to be different from the original movies. Where the first 3 where fun swashbucklers, this one is more like a Greek Tradgedy as someone suggested. The only thing I didn't really carefor was the direction of Anakin and his acting, or some of the corny lines/love scenes that where dull beyond belief. At least the original movie ones where short.
 
With this movie repeatedly airing on Cartoon Network, it seemed like a good time to discuss this film. I might be in the minority, but I really enjoyed this film. I found it to be the best that this series has had to offer. I think what I like about this film more than the series is that pretty much everyone is featured. The series seems to take an episode and devote it to one particular character. Almost, dare I say, the way that the old toy commercial cartoons used to....
